Stage2/Esquisse_______Workingouts

Working on a smaller scale into the site, a couple of site specific aspects have been observed. Some short notes/thinking:

Entrance Point: A location of entrance point that can create a welcoming opening, that obviously a path into it, that brings the community into an enclosure, that local residents are willing to choose a pathway into.

View: The grandstand and its view has represented a memory of Coogee residents for their loving of the sports, the community centre has to be respectful by not blocking the view and not ripping off ( =] ) its historical status (e.g. the way it's been built, texture, the bricks). The site is occupying a length of approximately 100m to face the oval, the sport, the beach people, the sea, the pacific ocean and back in the reversed side, to showcase the community's activity.

Gesture: The exterior shapes? Very sharp overwhelming? Subtle? A sense of a "centre" of community at a glace to the people traveling around - A scale of a whole and united building - A positive solid shape/enclosure in contrast with the great open beach space.

Experience: How about the full experience from the street to the inside of the "community"? Where to go if i'm gathering for some sports? How about having some meeting in the cafe? How about bringing the child to the workshop for some drawing class?

Light: The lack of light can make a space too enclosed, sunlight can light up a path, but direct sunlight and heat, glare can be too annoying that people are getting rid of it.
